Natural Aegean Destination ...yes ofcourse there are lovely pebble beaches and lots of hot sunny weather....but so much more read on...In the northwestern corner is the second largest municipality of Samos, named Karlovasi, a monument of commercial industry depicting the history of this town. The lovely Neo-classical structures and many tanneries distinctly project the wealth and prosperity that once prevailed. At the peak of Old Karlovasi sits the Holy Trinity church and extending diversely throughout the main town and Port areas are divisions of the University of Aegean Mathematics Faculty. Bursting with abundant nature, picturesque landscapes and charming neighbourhoods, Karlovasi is no doubt unique. The lovely Potami beach and secluded Seitani beaches are all located in the near Karlovasi. The Seitani beaches are unspoiled retreats and you get only reach them on foot or by boat. This conservation area provides the breeding grounds for the monachus monuchus seals.
Things to do in Karlovasi area...visit the shipyards in the harbour, enjoy short walks through the trails or simply to Paleo Karlovasi. Within a short distance there are many local villages, monasteries & chapels. Swim at Potami beach, walk to the old chapel of Metamorphosis at Potami area and then on to the waterfalls, visit the wine factory, the old tannery factories, the folklore museum, the town hall, workout at the sports stadium, enjoy the restaurants, cafes and shops....and...don't miss the beautiful sunset...perfect way to welcome the evening. I am originally from Ottawa Canada but now reside in Karlovasi with my family. I am in the process of developing alternative forms of tourism suitable for this area. Your comments & suggestions will be greatly appreciated.Let me know what you would look for in a quaint, easy-going, verdant environment. How would you like to spend your precious days?
